🔄 Oil Change Procedure

  1. Position the Vehicle: Place your RANGER on a level surface and set the transmission to PARK.
  2. Cool Down the Engine: Allow the engine to cool before beginning the oil change.
  3. Clean the Drain Area: Wipe around the crankcase drain plug to prevent contaminants from entering the engine.
  4. Drain the Oil: Place a drain pan under the engine crankcase, remove the drain plug using a 6mm Allen socket, and allow the oil to drain completely.
  5. Remove Cargo: Clear all items from the cargo box before lifting it to access the engine.
  6. Lift the Cargo Box: Pull up on the cargo box release lever to tilt the box.
  7. Remove the Oil Filter: Use the 2.5-inch (64mm) oil filter wrench to turn the oil filter counterclockwise and remove it.
  8. Clean the Sealing Surface: Use a clean, dry cloth to wipe the filter sealing surface on the engine crankcase.
  9. Lubricate the O-Ring: Apply a film of fresh engine oil to the O-ring of the new oil filter. Ensure the O-ring is in good condition.
  10. Install the New Oil Filter: Install the new oil filter by turning it until the O-ring contacts the sealing surface, then turn an additional 3/4 turn.
  11. Replace the Drain Plug Washer: Replace the sealing washer on the drain plug with part number 5812232. Ensure the sealing surface is clean and free of burrs, nicks, or scratches.
  12. Reinstall the Drain Plug: Reinstall the engine crankcase drain plug using the 6mm Allen socket. Torque the drain plug to 12 ft-lbs (16 Nm).
  13. Fill with New Oil: Remove the oil fill cap and fill the engine with the recommended engine oil. The oil capacity is 2.5 quarts (2.4 liters).
  14. Check Oil Level: Start the engine and allow it to idle for 30 seconds. Stop the engine and inspect for oil leaks. Wait at least 15 seconds before removing the dipstick. Remove the dipstick, wipe it dry with a clean cloth, reinstall it, and check the oil level. Add the recommended oil as necessary to bring the oil level within the SAFE range on the dipstick. Do not overfill.
  15. Reinstall Components: Reinstall the oil fill cap, oil dipstick, and lock the lever.
  16. Dispose of Used Oil: Properly dispose of used oil and filter according to local regulations.
