The stock single-shear design is upgraded to a stronger double-shear configuration by replacing the original stiffener plate with the Thunderhawk mount. This mount features additional frame mounting points, securing it directly to the frame at the top and bottom without relying solely on the four radius rod bolts. The double-shear design supports the radius rods on both the front and rear, effectively doubling the strength and preventing issues such as flex, deformation, elongation, and cracking around the mounting holes in the RZR frame.
This Thunderhawk mount significantly improves frame and suspension strength, providing a superior solution compared to other rear radius rod plates or cages. The patent-pending double-shear mounting is engineered to handle the forces encountered in real-world RZR driving conditions, whether racing or trail-riding. The mount includes a differential fluid service access hole and is designed to fit with Polaris-brand and most aftermarket bumpers or rear roll cages using Polaris-style mounts. Additionally, the direct frame mounting independent of the radius rod bolts makes rear suspension work easier, allowing for easy removal and re-installation of the radius rods.
Installation of the Thunderhawk double-shear radius rod mount takes approximately 30-45 minutes, and it is made in the USA. It is crucial to note that the double-shear plate will not fit High-Lifter or Desert Edition models or any RZR equipped with the Polaris #2879523 high-clearance radius rod kit.
